newbies first build

recently started a build, with a chopper, motor block is stamped tr6c gd54622, it has no top end, carbs or exhaust, i woild like, with the help of the wise men here, like to re-build the motor if at all possible, was at the show in rhinebeck this past weekend, droolin and slobberin, over all the fine machines there, did come up with a somewhat suitable seat, and a haymes manual for 650 and 750, the pictures might help, but god help me, i will never understand the queens english as written by the brits so..., the frame number does not match the engine number, it has a bolt on swing-arm, amd a springer front end, with z-bars that are okay, not sure if the front tire is a triumph 7 spoke or not, the rear looks to be stock wth 43 teeth, instead of the 46 i read in the book, and they did make a 7 spoke wheel for one model, the frame number is t120 d or r, du 61888 the weld on neck is marked f7463 above a boxed x, any thoughts or info would be greatly appreciated, the bike was bought on e-bay from a guy in forked river new jersey who had it sitting for a couple of years, i'd like to start tearing the engine down, to see if i can free the piston, which are lodged in their cylinders like a miser holdin his money, well. i'll post a few of the choice pics and await the riotous laughter and sniggerin from you pro's....i have not lifted a wrench to a small engine or cycle for over 30 years...i'll have to resize and come back with the pics.....thanx

Morning Big B
Your engine is a single carb 650 produced in June of 1970,..Your frame is a Bonneville, Produced way back in 1967,...
Heres a parts manual: http://www.mapcycle.com/mmMAPCYCLE/Othe ... 20Twin.pdf ..Itll come in handy, See if you can get a hold of a factory workshop manual also.. I don't have one specific to your motor that I can link you to or I'd hook you up,..

Be patient with the stuck pistons,...soak in them in oil, and let them sit awhile,..

Good luck !! and Peace..

If your back wheel it still attached SOMETIMES, just SOMETIMES you can break it free by jacking the rear wheel off the ground and putting the bike into first gear and rotating the rear wheel . if the transmission isnt locked up,..

One thing I did with a motor with froze pistons once was i took off the base nuts to see if the crank was free then if you don't want to save the pistons I used a big bolt as a drift and a sledge hammer and ALOT of force. A dead blow and a big wooden dowel they just laughed at.

Have you tried letting some penetrating oil sit in the cylinders for a few days? Might just do it.

Framus is right, atf might help also because it has alot of detergent in it and loosens rust up.
